PROS: My first impression was how well these ear buds stay in your ear. I'm a fitness enthusiast and have already put in a 10 mile run and a 2 hr gym workout with these and never once had to readjust them. A HUGE PLUS. Even though these are not marketed to the sports audience, the only thing missing is the clip to attach to your shirt. However, in all honest the cable is so insanely light that I personally believe its unnecessary for the overall performance.
CONS: They take a little getting used to here. The upper nub that you twist into your ear to keep the phones in place is slightly discomforting during the twisting. Once they are set in place they feel great, basically you are pressing and moving rubber against your ear. Not a major drawback, wouldn't prevent me from recommending or purchasing again.
SOUND: Another job well done here. I feel that the mids and highs are crystal clear (or close enough for the price) The bass has been improved over the sports line and does well enough for everyday usage. Yet, if there is one weakspot in the headphones it would be in the bass area. Granted, its not near as bad as the earlier MX series that i've tried (sport or not) but I would expect Sennheiser to work on this in the future.
QUALITY/DESIGN: Its pretty early on for me to provide a concise report on the quality and longevity of the headphone, but I will mention that the build seems solid. The Volume Control piece is a pretty neat addition as well. It doesn't completely control the volume, rather it allows you to adjust it slightly to give you control over those songs that are louder/quieter than others or enough to be able to take in ambient noise if need be without pausing the song. However, i think the placed the control module a little too far down the cable for my preferences.
CON: One major design flow that I will note is that the headset cable ships to you wrapped in tight circles. This in turn causes the cable to create loops when wearing and is annoying. It's relaxed a bit since the first use, but I really have to wonder why Sennheiser would screw this up given that is supposed to be for sleek minimalist users who wont performance and looks in one. Will follow up on this later.
All in all, well worth the money spent. However, minor flaws keep it from getting 5 stars. For anyone looking for athletic usage, this has got to be the best deal in town. (trust me i've tried most others) :)
2) Sounds great!!!
3) I love the volume control. I clip my MP3 inside my pants pocket when I'm mowing/vacumming and I can easily turn the volume up with the mower on and then turn it down when its off without having to get to the MP3 player - VERY convenient!
4) They look great
CONS: 1) It was a bit trickey at first to get these to fit just right in my ears. The design is a bit different than what I was use to, but once you get it and get use to it, you'll like it.
The price/performance of these earbuds is really great: about $25 for very good sound. They stay locked in your ear too, even when jogging or mowing the lawn. Good external noise reduction as well, with several fitments to suit different ear types. The volume is just loud enough, though it's nice to have an in-line volume control too.
On the negative side, the sound response is a bit flat in the upper end. Bass is good, midrange is neutral and clear, though not as clear as more expensive in-ear units (like the Shure E3). The rather long cord gets tangled quite easily, and after multiple uses it gets twisted up.
Bottom line: if you're looking for good quality sound that will stay fixed in your ear while walking about, you can't go wrong with these headphones.
