I've been interested in a wi-fi enabled doorbell for some time now. I decided to skip first gen products like Doorbot and the Skybell v1, due to the less than stellar reviews. When Skybell announced their v2 product with a large list of improvements, I decided to finally take the plunge. Now that I've had it installed for a few days, here are my impressions:

- Install and setup is relatively straight forward. I already had a separate 2.4Ghz wifi network set up, so the syncing process was a breeze.
- Video comes up on the app quickly, generally within a second or two. I understand this was a major complaint with v1, so I'm glad to see the improvements here.
- Push notification (on my iPhone 6+) is near instant.
- IR illumination works in darker situations.
- Decent field of view from the camera.
- Motion sensor works.
- My old doorbell still rings when Skybell button is pushed.

- The included small wire nuts/connectors are completely useless. The opening is so small that I had a tough time inserting two twisted wires into them. I ended up not using them.
- The set screw is ridiculously tiny and took me way too long to set. They should have made it a bit bigger.
- The video quality is not great. It looks like bad webcam photos from the 90s (see attached photo). I wish it had a better resolution. At that resolution, I'm not sure any captured photos would be useful for security purposes.
- The motion sensor has some false positive issues. During the day in the morning, I tend to get a lot of false positives, probably from sun peeking in and out of clouds. Another reviewer has reported this same issue.
- The motion sensor takes 10 seconds to trigger, which means it tends to miss UPS/FedEX drivers, who tend to just drop the box and run, and fail to trigger the motion sensor.
- When you open live feed, the audio is piped through by default. I wish it's muted by default, because I don't want my phone making sounds when I want to discretely check my front door while I'm at the office.
- The iOS app is not the slickest looking thing. It doesn't conform to iOS 7 design guidelines, nor does it support the higher screen resolutions of the iPhone 6/6+.

All in all, a solid improvement over the first generation. Some of the issues will be worked out over time via software, and others will have to wait for the next hardware revision. It's not perfect, but probably the best of its kind on the market right now.

Stopped working after only 3 months. Customer Service Dept, had us jump through hoops with no end in sight for a replacement. Checked with Better Business Bureau. Rated F. I should have read reviews first. When the product worked it was nice. I don't get why businesses don't stand behind their product. Do they realize most people do research and will gladly go elsewhere to find not only a quality product but service after the sale.

So far - not so good.... I purchased the doorbell and for the 1st week, worked great... week #2 it started making the doorbell buzz.

I was told by Skybell it was a power problem, replaced the power supply. Still buzzing...

Now it sits in a box waiting for Skybell to give me an RMA to replace it (has been a week waiting for a RMA to return, no one there can approve it as the supervisor is unavailable).

Not great customer service. If it works --> great, but good luck if anyone to help if anything goes wrong with the device......

Disappointed, I genuinely wanted this device to work. I even looked past the issues for a while. Literally 9 times out of ten the video feed takes so long to come up that the person at the door would have left and driven away by the time you could interact with them.

Installation was not forgiving. It had absolutely no clearance to cache the wires in the housing.

Also the camera is not adjustable! My doorbell sits 4 inches to the right of my door and if someone stands in the middle of my door the camera cuts off half of them!

We love our SkyBell! My wife was a little skeptical at first when I told her I had bought a doorbell with a camera on it, but now she loves this thing. If she's home without me now, and someone comes to the door she can safely view who's there without them ever even knowing she's home alone!

It's great when a solicitor comes to the door too. One day two guys showed up at our front door trying to sell magazines, or who knows what. My wife and I were in the other room watching a movie, so I fired up the SkyBell app on my phone and just watched and listened to them for a moment to see who they were. Our dogs instinctively ran to the door barking when the guys rang the doorbell (we have windows in our front doors so you can see in and out the entryway). Our dogs would bark at them for a second, and then run back into the other room with us. This happened about 3 times as the guys continued to knock at our door after the dogs would walk away. Finally, one of the guys turns to the other and says "You see how those dogs keep going back into the other room? That means the owner is home. If the owner wasn't home then the dogs would just stay here at the door. So you know what that means. You don't have to leave. Just keep knocking, and eventually they'll get fed up and finally come to the door." At this point I'd had enough, so I reached down on my iPhone, and pushed the HOLD TO SPEAK button on the SkyBell app, and said "Actually, you're right. The owner is home. They don't want whatever it is you're selling, and by the way I guess you missed the signs at the entrance, but there's no soliciting in this neighborhood." You should have seen the looks on their faces. They quickly turned and walked away, and I never even had to leave the comfort of my chair to get rid of a pushy door to door salesman. My wife and I had a good laugh, and it was at that moment that I knew I had absolutely, without a doubt made a smart investment in our SkyBell.

I also love the fact that if someone rings the doorbell I get a notification on my phone even if I'm not home, and I can swipe to pull up the app and see who's at my front door, and interact with them if I choose to. Most home intruders knock or ring the doorbell first to make sure nobody is home if they're looking for a quick heist. Now, even if I'm away I can quickly pull up the app and just tell someone at my door that I'm busy, and just can't come downstairs right now...even if I'm hundreds of miles away. If a quick heist was their intention, then they'd just move along since they thought someone was home. It's a great pro-active security device!
