4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great price, works well, always breaks within a few months. 5 de octubre de 2012

I will keep my review short as there have been MANY factual and well written reviews for the various Snark tuners over the years. Quickly though, I will start by also agreeing that for the price, it is hard to beat. This is mostly why I have given it 4 stars and just bought a sixth one. It is accurate, reliable for tuning, and affordable. All that said, here is why I decided to write a review. I have owned about 5 of these Snarks and every single one has broken after about 3-4 months use. The unit itself is great. Here is the problem. Where the tuner attaches to the guitar and where the tuner attaches itself to it's own clip is where this little gem falls short. Sure, if you put it on a guitar and leave it there at home, it will likely last at least a year and maybe longer requiring a battery change one day if you are lucky. However, if you travel with it, take it on or off a few guitars a day, or frequently adjust it, it will likely eventually break. Either the "rubber feet" that come into contact with the head stock of the guitar will come off and get lost or the little ball joint that connects the tuner's head to the clip part will break. Best to get several of these at this great price and just keep one on each of your guitars. One for the electric, one for the acoustic, etc. This item does not travel well and is best used at home gently.

I don't play professionally so there is no need to buy expensive pedal tuners such as Hardwire HT-6, Polytune or Korg Pitchblack. I researched for other alternatives and decided on a "clip on" tuner. I narrowed it down to 3 - Korg AW2, Snark SN-1 & Intelli IMT-900. All 3 have a lot of positive reviews and all of them are under $20. I visited each manufacturers' website for more information and found out about the Snark SN-8. Snark claims that it's their best tuner yet. If their SN-1 can go toe to toe with the others, then I would assume that their best will do even better. I took the plunge and ordered one. I have only 2 requirements for a tuner:
1. It should be accurate.
2. It should be fast.
The Snark SN-8 delivered on both counts and more! It came with other extras like "tap tempo metronome", "super tight tuning", "pitch calibration", "transpose features" etc. I may not have any use for all of them right now but it's nice to have them at your fingertips. You can use it for other instruments as well but I only use it for my guitars. The SN-8 is small & unobtrusive. The display is bright and easily readable and can turn any which way you like. After tuning, I turn it off and put it back in the guitar case. I don't like it hanging in my guitar! Of course, it doesn't stay long because it tunes fast! For under $20, these little tuner is all you and accurate. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Good tuner, but not super tight 4 de febrero de 2012

Bought this Snark SN8 tuner to compliment my other tuners I have; an onboard tuner on my acoustic guitar and Intelli IMT500 clip on.

The product is well made and feels solid, the two swivel ball joints allow for any position you'd like.
The display looks great and clip on is sturdy and strong.

Performance wise the tuner displays the sound pitch amazingly quick and with a consistent reading, never wandering around like the IMT500 sometimes can, so on both speed and precision it gets 5 stars.

But on the accuracy side it's a bit lacking.
Even with the tuner indicating a solid green bar, I can have both my onboard tuner and the IMT500 show the pitch being either slightly sharp or flat. Not that there's an offset of sort, but simply that the green bar tolerance is too wide kinda like +/- 5 cents or so. My other tuners are like +/- 3 cents.

So there you have it, for quick tuning and if you don't care about the perfect pitch, the Snark SN8 is all aces. But if you're looking for a high accuracy tuner, the SN8 is not it despite being labeled as "super tight".

For the most accurate tuning use a strobe tuner or other tuner softwware app on iphone/android/mac/pc.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great deal in a 2-pack - love it for my ukuleles 14 de junio de 2015

Bought a pack of two of these Snark SN-8 Super Tight tuners for my Ukuleles. I have multiple ukes and needed a simple tuner to clip on the headstock and pack in the case. This tuner does a great job of helping me find the sweet spot on each string. The display is bright and it just works. I like the included metronome too. But my favorite is the transpose tuning feature which can be adjusted to whatever fret I have my capo on. That is a very neat feature.

The other great thing that makes this such a nice and easy tuner is that a simple click of the yellow button gets the unit on and the unit turns off too with a simple push. No having to hold any buttons or wait long for a display to warm up.

It just works.

I wouldn't hesitate to get more of these as needed. The clip works and for now, I have one on my Firefly soprano Banjolele and my KoAloha Concert uke. Very happy with them.

I got this product a few days ago. And I would rate it a 4.5/5. I put 5 because it would be unfair to put a 4 because they did a good job making this. Here is an honest review of the tuner.

-The labels on the buttons at the back and sides were too small to read. And it was black too so it kind of blended with the whole thing.

+It was easy to understand. You would know if you should tighten or loosen because of the visual.
+Easy to bring. It's small enough to keep in your pocket.
+No need to go to a secluded area just to tune your guitar, ukelele, etc. It tunes your instrument by vibration so you don't need to worry about the backround noise.
+It has a metronome.
+ The tuner grips well on my guitar.
