5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas and they are great, but very expensive 13 de noviembre de 2016

These shotgun microphones are often just included with the purchase of a Sony video camera. This was the case for me. I own other shotgun microphones from Schoeps, Sennheisser, Sanken, and they are great, but very expensive. This little mic is amazingly good! I have used it on professional jobs with no complaints. Often very nice to use if I am in a less than ideal environment, like rain or on a boat. I really don't want to risk a $1500.00 mic in those conditions. I now own 5 of these mics. Make 100% sure it is this exact model. Other Sony mics look identical but are not as good at all. Have Fun!

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Excellent short shotgun mic! 20 de mayo de 2015

Picked it up used...these are not inexpensive, and used ones are hard to find. The mic was an OEM mic for many pro line Sony video recorders. It has excellent sensitivity (-30dB) and good signal to noise ratio (78dB) with a frequency response of 50-20000Hz.. It is a good mic for use on the new small Sony camcorders which have a holder for an XLR mic. It is a short condenser shotgun which requires Phantom power. I was disappointed that my (used) one did not come with a foam windscreen, but I ordered a replacement and also picked up a furry windscreen for outside use as well. The furry windscreen is essential for outside use.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Nice Complement to the PXW-X70 13 de diciembre de 2015

I was planning on buying the Sony HXR-NXU camera that comes with this microphone, but since that camera has been discontinued, I opted for the more recent PXW-X70 which does not include a microphone. I bought this microphone to make my PXW-X70 ready to go. For the price, this microphone does quite well. At a distance of about 6 feet the mic does a great job of picking up a (human) speaker at a great level without picking up any peripheral sounds - making this great a great mic for interviews or talking-head type broadcasts/videos. Don't expect it to pick up ambient noises - this is a shotgun mic. In post, there was a slight white noise floor which could be the audio unit on the camera or the mic, but it is very easily eliminated with gating and/or noise reduction.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Solid and reliable. 10 de junio de 2016

Maybe not fit for broadcast quality television, but we made great use of it at our production house filming documentaries, interviews and sports. No complaints whatsoever.

For the price, this is a great mic.
If using it on the Sony XAV-90, you'll need to put some padding around the neck so that it holds, adapter is slightly bigger on the camera.
Probably to make it fit as many cameras as possible.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great short shogtun Mic 24 de enero de 2017

This is a great short shotgun that Sony provided with some of their camcorders. I had it on my HVR-Z7U. My latest camcorder the FS5 did not come with a mic and I immediately chose the ECM-XM1. Good pickup within six to eight feet.
