Although small these snips pack a punch as the spring is a strong one. It is not so tight that those with hand issues would struggle, but it still allows you to cut easily through most branches on a bush. It is helped by the sharpness of the blades themselves. This sharpness will need to be maintained by yourself after a while, but it is good that you get them out of the packet so sharp. The colour scheme is very attractive if you care about that sort of thing, but on a more functional level the locking tool works well to stop them opening all the time. These may not be the biggest pair of sheers to exist, but they are powerful and sharp, great for some of the more fiddly work you want to do around the garden.
I have just pruned the two shaped topiary bushes by my door in five minutes flat, refining their geometric shapes that had strayed a little over the last few months, back into the sharply honed items they were when first purchased. Not a single snagged or broken stem, just neat cuts that should reduce any potential for disease to enter the plants.
Once done, the blades are super-easy to clean with just a slightly oiled rag and are then safely stowed away ready for next use by engaging the neat, integral catch. A great tool that is easy to care for.
The locking mechanism is sturdy and works really well, the spring is well made and robust. The blades have just cut through a forest of fennel stalks, rose branches, raspberry stems and have competently completed general autumn duties here. No stress on the hands, the rubberised handles, grips are non-slip and no stress to close over and over.
A super neat pair which could be put into a handbag and used for taking cuttings in other's gardens perhaps, avoiding the need for a sharp thumb nail!
I do not know why it says for the inexperienced - they are good for all gardeners.
They fit into my hand nicely.
The locking mechanism is good.
I like the bright blue handles - hopefully, I will see them when packing stuff away. it is easy to leave things in the garden if they do not stand out.
They are intended for light work - snipping herbs and flowers.
They would be easily ruined by attempting to use them for heavier pruning.
