-Ms. Bain's Block 3 class-
The story begins on the morning of Teagan's sixteenth birthday party. She wakes up to rain, a stomach ache, and her usual negative/spoiled attitude. The first half of the book, Teagan goes through her day up to her party. She is not happy. She is not nice. She is miserable. "Tragedy" strikes, and Teagan finds herself alone and stumbling into unconsciousness. Then, the story picks up the Christmas Carol angle. Teagan is brought back to many different birthday scenarios of past, present, and future, being led by a quirky ghost.
Since the book is mostly about Teagan, and only really goes through one day, only Teagan is well-developed. The side characters are fun, though. I really liked her step-mom and a couple of her friends.
When I finished, I wanted more. I really enjoyed this book and actually got more than I expected. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute and sweet teen chick lit book. I really like this author (and her Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowen Boys, too)and look forward to reading more books by her.
