The DAB Tuner is great for the money, but with FM on the way out why do they have 30 memory presets for it, bit disappointing that there are only 10 memory presets for DAB, but it did find more DAB stations than the portable we have.
The unit also has a Sleep Timer but what you don't find out till you have bought the tuner is that this only works if you have TEAC's A-R650 Amplifier!
The box has lots of cables in to start you listening straight away, I had already pre-empted getting a DAB tuner and had a DAB and an FM Aerials fitted and wired in. The DAB Aerial connector is the screw type end and the FM the normal coax type; sorry don't have the type letters to hand.
Even comes with batteries for the remote control.
Lastly you cannot switch the unit off, it has a 'Stand-by' button, now we're always told that that still drains electricity, so a bit disappointing again.
In Summary, Presets: 30 for AM, 30 for FM, 10 for DAB
To use Sleep Mode you need the TEAC Amp.
If you want to switch off completely you need to do it at the plug.
It came quickly and efficiently from Amazon and was simply to install - I used the provided wire DAB aerial behind a painting on the wall above the Tuner - used my existing large FM Aerial on the roof and the small Loop Aerial provided for AM. The Manual had plenty of information on facilities (too much for me).
Manual tuning is a bit painful as it picks up nearly every carrier and noise on each Band.
Tuning can be carried out using the Remote provided or the Manual Tune knob on the front panel.
One quirk - the LED Power red light is lit when the Tuner is OFF and the LED is out when the Tuner is ON!
DAB presets=10: FM and AM Presets =30 each; (should be the other way round).
As with all computer driven devices there are dozens of extra facilities not needed - it does have FM Traffic RDS which is good.
Quality is good, Quieting is good. The screen provides a host of information.
Switching stations on DAB takes quite a few seconds.
Providing you accept the complex Tuning arrangements a lovely Tuner - low on Power Consumption, 9Watts and only 0.5Watt on Standby.
