5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Wow, what great sound for a small speaker! 27 de enero de 2013

Out of all the bluetooth wireless speakers I researched, I decided on this one. And I am not sorry I did.. it's great! Here is why. I wanted something small, that sounded large, and could fill a large space with great sounding music. I wanted something that did not have to be plugged in. I wanted a bluetooth connection to my mobile devices. I wanted to place the speaker on a wall in the basement to listen to my playlist while working out. This JBL OnTour IBT Bluetooth Wireless Speaker fit the bill perfectly!! A lot of other speakers I researched had bad reviews or could not be placed where/how I had planned. However, I found that this one has a bracket that can be attached on the back to make it stand up. Well I simply ran picture wire through that bracket to hang it on the wall. Woohoo! Instant wall speaker! Once I paired it to my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and my Xoom tablet, this speaker easily connects every time to either device. And it sounds great! It has a power button on top, and I always turn it off when I'm done, to save batteries. The volume buttons control the volume of the music on my phone, and my phone volume buttons also control the speaker volume. It sounds great at full volume without any clipping or distortion. If you like a thumping heavy base, you won't get it from this (and perhaps not from any wireless bluetooth speaker). But for me, the sound fills the large space very well, and it has a crisp, full sound. At full volume it is hard to believe that such a large sound is coming from such a small speaker!!! So far I have not had any problems with this speaker, and I'm very happy with it. Highly recommended.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Ideal Sound Quality For Size 3 de mayo de 2013

I've purchased a number of small speakers, and have been only been disappointed by one. The Creative D100 received many strong reviews, but it was ultimately a weak, flat sounding device.

The JBL On Tour IBT speaker is a very good product. I knew it was a compact speaker, but was still surprised by how small it is. In fact, I was concerned that I was going to be disappointed as I removed it from the box. No need for concern!

The clarity of this speaker is what makes it great. Excellent separation between the instruments, and the quality of the sound is very good at lower volumes. I noticed that other reviews noted that there could be more bass. Speakers that are this small are not going to "thump." The bass is perfectly adequate for this speaker - in balance with the rest of the sound.

Strongly recommended, although I think availability is starting to run low...

2.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas The battery compartment needs a redesign. 26 de agosto de 2013

First, let me say that the sound quality of this speaker is pretty good for the price. I'd definitely recommend it IF it wasn't for a major problem with the battery compartment. The contact springs are designed in such a way that it's a little difficult to put in the bottom batteries. It scratched the cover off one of the batteries and revealed the contact area along the edge. Somehow it came in contact somewhere inside and caused a short-circuit. The speaker would turn on for a few seconds and then turn off. When I checked the batteries, they were extremely hot and it started smoking in the compartment. You can tell in the photo I'll upload where it started burning the contact areas. Lucky for me I discovered this quickly... otherwise, who knows what might have happened.. exploding batteries or a fire?

Just wanted to update (9/5).
I returned the IBT and got the JBL Flip and I have to say the little Flip is just as good with sound as the IBT was. I don't think it gets as loud as the IBT but very close to it. The only things I wish I could change on it are the charging jack (no usb) and the 5hr battery (should be 8 IMO). Oh, and the speakerphone was pretty clear as well.

I also tried the Logitech UE Mobile Mini Boombox and the audio on it was terrible compared to this.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I like, but don't love it 7 de enero de 2012

I purchased this on Cyber Monday, so it was only $94. For $94, this speaker delivers great sound. I am not sure whether I would be happy with it if I paid more than $100 due to the frequency in loss of pairing. I am trying to isolate when the loss occurs, but it is often enough for me to get a bit agitated. In reading the other reviews, I am surprised that the iPhones and iPads are losing connectivity or getting disruptions, as this JBL was created more for the iProducts. I use a PC laptop and Android and only lose connectivity with the PC laptop. I've even taken a few phone calls while listening to music through the speakers and when the phone call completed, I felt that the music seamlessly streamed through again.

I love listening to my deep house or fun pop tunes through the speakers nonetheless, as it does deliver a quality of bass sound and clarity that I expected. The sound is grand and round enough for me to forgive the loss of pairing (especially at $94). I bought rechargeable batteries and they are doing the job well!
4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas A great device with an annoying quirk! 4.5 Stars really, 5 if you don't own the new iPad (or any USB device that draws > 10W) 20 de enero de 2013

I will preface this by saying that it is the best portable speaker system for the iPhone/iPad that I have used to date. For the price I paid, it is bar none, the best device of its kind on the market and as soon as it hits that price again, I intend to snap up a few more to give as gifts to my iDevice-toting family. The speakers sound good, rich and vibrant with a discernable low-end punch. The speakerphone works very well, about on par with my vehicle's hands free setup... That's to say that every now and then, people ask if you're on speaker but that happens infrequently enough that I can ignore it. It has BT with a verified tested range in my house of 25 feet+. USB audio-in works flawlessly and it charges your device while it plays to boot. It also has an AUX-in that I have yet to test but I have no doubts that it would work flawlessly too. Battery life on full blast with fully charged Eneloop batteries is 5-6 hours. On moderate listening levels, I have gotten a little over 8 hours from it. It also comes with a wall wart too that is unremarkable. Overall, it truly is a great device.

Now, onto the one annoying quirk: connecting the new iPad. My best guess is that this speaker's USB port was rated for 10W, not the 12W preferred by the new iPad. As such, whenever I connect the new iPad to the device, it goes from charging (and connected) to not charging (and not connected) off and on again. That means (after the first switch) that USB audio ceases to work. It will do this ad infinitum unless you power cycle the speaker. About 1-3 times tends to do the trick in my experience. The most irritating thing is that this behaviour is not consistent. Sometimes, it will play/charge the new iPad with no cycling at all. It works fine with the iPad 2, the iPhone 5, and all other iOS devices in the household. Not a deal-breaker IMO but definitely worth docking half a star for. It's a 4.5 star device that I can only rate 4 stars here because Amazon does not allow me to award half stars.

I would recommend this device to anyone despite its quirks with no reservations at all. Just bear in mind the inconsistent power cycling issue with the new iPad.
