The pathway for healing and recovery must include a holistic, multidimensional body-mind approach. Somatic therapy methods, as opposed to cognitive behavioral "talk therapy", explore how various traumas and life stressors adversely impact the body, mind, and spirit. These methods address physical responses, behaviors, sensations, feelings, and thoughts which often get caught in an unhealthy cyclical pattern in the body after trauma occurs.
This e-book provides the reader with basic information on trauma (definition, types, impact on the brain, etc.), and describes somatic-based trauma resolution modalities including Somatic Experiencing and Yoga Therapy. The author includes a personal narrative on how the she applied these practices to support her own journey toward greater self-love and recovery from sugar addiction.
Lara Eisenberg is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner®, Yoga Therapist, Mindfulness Instructor, and Trauma Touch Therapist. She holds dual master degrees in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University. She has extensive experience and education in stress management, trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, cultivating a healthy body and self-image, and awakening the feminine.
Since 2002, Lara has worked privately and with schools, non-profits, and various organizations as a Bilingual Counselor, Holistic Wellness Professional, Educator, Consultant, Speaker, and Yoga and Meditation Instructor. Her mission is to support women and girls in reclaiming their power, inner beauty, and cultivating self-love and a healthy body image. She does this by helping women restore the natural harmony that exists between mind, body, and spirit, and teaching them how to deepen their connection to the language of their bodies, sensations, desires, intuition, and emotions.
She truly believes that an integral part of recovery and healing for women is creating a space for them to explore their emotional, psychological, spiritual, and sexual lives. She believes that the absence of any of these aspects of the self can be a hinderance to developing healthy self-esteem, lasting recovery, and an integrated sense of self as a woman.
In her personal life, Lara uses her intense passion for dance as a beautiful form of feminine expression.
