Reseña del editor
Understanding Bob Dylan, by acclaimed author Tony Beck, reveals a dramatically new perspective on the lyrics of legendary poet singer Bob Dylan. Understanding Bob Dylan is a comprehensive analysis of Dylan’s songs, based on access to Dylan’s archives, including his hand-written notebook for Blood on the Tracks. Ever wondered why Dylan’s lyrics have such power, grace, and the ability to draw you inside of the song? Understanding Bob Dylan answers those questions by looking at the different literary themes Dylan has used throughout his work, from his early days, through Blonde and Blonde and Blood on the Tracks, to the present, to shape an extraordinary body of work. Understanding Bob Dylan explores Dylan’s writings about love, sex and money, his interest in creativity, his lyrics on the highway and boundaries, and his obsessions with time and memory. Dylan’s songs can move and bewilder you, or leave you with a strange feeling of well- being. Understanding Bob Dylan explains why. You can read excerpts from the book at https://understandingbobdylan.wordpress.com/

First, it doesn't cover the songs in any systematic way (in fact, it bounces from song to song stream-of-consciousness style) and there's no index, so good luck finding info on a particular song. Nor does it cover a very large portion of Dylan's work.
Second, the layout and printing of the book is unprofessional and hard to read - the typeface is not a good choice for print and the layout looks suspiciously like a web-page. Should've had a proofreader, too - layout is inconsistent and errors are frequent. The print is also fairly large, so the book is really much shorter than it should be.
But lastly and most importantly the writing is pretty poor. The author makes assumptions and asserts things that are simply incorrect (In English, the word "missionary" is only ever used as an adjective in the phrase "missionary position"? WTF?) and there are errors of both grammar and style throughout ("agency is not high on the list of women in Dylan's songs" - women's qualities, perhaps?). The author's "analysis" is rambling guesswork with lots of "maybe it's this or maybe it's that" and little or no focus.
In short, there's a reason this book is self-published.
