The Pens I received, as well as the box have slight variations from the picture. The white sticker that says Mitsubishi is non existent. It is instead a small clear sticker that is placed towards the bottom of the pen. The cap has a small DX above the word Signo in the picture. The Pens I received do not have this DX. The Pens O received also has Japanese letters above the 0.38. The picture does not have such markings. As for the writing it is super scratchy and not smooth. If you bear down a little to hard the paper slightly rips. I look forward to comparing this pen to one that Know is for sure authentic.

These are 0.38mm pens. For precision pens, there are three sizes (0.3, 0.38, 0.5). The 0.3mm pen is the pointiest and is best for writing in small spaces. But it also leaves the least amount of ink and is sometimes hard to read. Additionally, the 0.3mm offers the least amount of resistence on paper so one can write it the fastest and most freely. The 0.5 is the most legible but only because its ink trail is the thickest and yet is not always great when writing in small spaces. The 0.38 is a compromise between 0.3 and 0.5 is my favorite caliber.

This pen also has a steelhead tip and point that remains static. The result is a very firm feel which allows you to write with precision with little movement back and forth as you would experience with "click" pens.

If you want a high quality pen that has the right mixture of precision, solid feel without pentip movement, and readability, then this pen should do its job.

This pen should be superior to most pens you have used.

I've been using the 0.38 pen for a couple years and recently bought the 0.28 and like it even better. Thin points don't drip, run, and pool like thicker points (I used to use 0.70 and even 1.4's thinking that they were easier to write with). If you have messy handwriting, the thinner the point, the more legible. It also forces you to write with less pressure. But you do have to write a little slower - again, helps improve my messy handwriting. But fine point writing requires a much different writing strategy than the standard medium point. Don't press hard. Write slowly. I love the scratchy sound but with practice, even that goes away..

I've have ordered several times from this exact Amazon link, dating back years, I believe. These are the Japanese models that generally don't have the letters "DX" on the caps. UM-151 is the official model number. "DX" is US branding perhaps. I have also bought these pens in Japan and Singapore. I would imagine the supplier behind this page simply gets a bunch of UM-151 pens and some are US versions and some Japanese versions. But they are the same pen. I've never had a bad batch in the 10 or so times I have ordered. In general, look at the latest reviews, not the ones on the top of the list. Maybe they had a bad run back in 2015...

Beautiful pen, and probably the best i've ever used, but I find that any "trauma" that affects the pen will cause it to sstop working with the same efficacy as before; almost as if it has run out of ink, even when I see the ink is full. I'm not sure if I received fakes, and I will use another bundle to see if it's good, because when it did work, it was the best i've ever had.

1.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Unusable after first half of the ink barrell is used. 4 de julio de 2016

These write smoothly and precisely . . . until the ink is half-way used up. At that point, the ink becomes very faint to non-existent and unusable. I've used nearly all the pens in my box with the exact same result. Not worth the money or the wait. I'm very disappointed, because I LOVE the way the pens write during the first half of their usefulness.
