Descripción del producto

Someone’s always watching.

All Jay wants is a wi-fi hotspot and a few hours away from his father, whose behavior has gotten erratic since Jay’s mother died last year. But Jay’s solo hobby of hotspot hunting makes him a witness to a violent crime. Though he escapes with his life, he winds up in possession of a mysterious transmission.
Jay gives the file to his best friend, Benny, a wheelchair-bound hacker who risks his life to crowd-surf at raves. But when Benny learns what the data signifies, he and Jay are yanked into a dark underworld of futuristic technological secrets and the men who protect them. The coalition responsible for the transmission hunts Jay and Benny across the globe, but the boys’ lives aren’t the only thing at stake. The future has already arrived.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I enjoyed the book 29 de abril de 2017

Picked this book to read because the price was right and the description looked fresh. In general, I enjoyed the book; the plot was indeed unique. As with any novel that includes technology, over time the technology ages (perhaps at an accelerating rate) and becomes a distraction rather than enhancing the suspence. Overall, a good read.

A friend recommended this book and it was exceptional. Tobin's insightful writing drew me in and I was hooked from the start. If you like suspense novels and the thrill of plot twists and turns, this book is for you.

Jay is devastated by his mom's death and his dad's inability to function normally. To further complicate things, Jay stumbles across a strange video and a murder. He quickly instills the help of his best friend, Bennie to try to solve the mystery using their extraordinary high tech computer skills before he becomes the next victim.

I highly recommend this book and I'm looking forward to more from this author.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Very good story 26 de diciembre de 2012

High schoolers caught up in an adult world. Although tech savvy, they still have a lot to learn about corruption, greed, and egos. And of course, besides the material things going on around them, there has to be some emotional rides as well.

The only reason I picked up this book was because one of the brokers in my office told me about it - his wife's cousin is the author - so I decided to give it a whirl.

I found it to be quite a good read. The storyline was especially interesting to me because I love computers. The technical side might be a little heavy for some non-computer people, but stick with it - there are some interesting little surprises as you read.

I would read more by this author.

From the first paragraph of the first chapter, I knew I would be enjoying Upload. Collin's writing style is imaginative, and his character development is outstanding. Within 15 minutes I found myself wanting to reach out to the author to let him know I was hooked. I'm a tech/IT idiot, so I was initially concerned at the first few references. I found, however that the technology aspects were light and didn't it didn't get in my way - not an easy task.

Being from Massachusetts, I loved the hometown feel of the book and the references to places I am familiar with. Looking forward to more from Collin Tobin!
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Good read for technology geeks, hackers - and non-techies alike... 10 de enero de 2013

This book had all the elements I like in a suspense novel - wonderfully developed characters, a scary, (but plausible) story line and an ending you won't forget.

For computer geeks and hackers, there's enough technical jargon and situations you can relate to.

For non-techies, fear not - the jargon is lightly sprinkled here and there - and doesn't get in the way of this engaging story about true friendship, courage and sacrifice.

A real page turner - I had a hard time putting this book down once I started.
