Very nice watch. The quality of the case, leather watch band, and sapphire crystal are all top notch. The dial is extremely easy to read, and the leather band is very comfortable on the wrist. I did receive the watch with the hands misaligned, however, after researching on the web, I was able to reset the watch and it works perfectly. I have included a few pictures with my review so you can see it in person. The last shot was taken with a UV light so you can see the lume (the blue color is from the UV light).

I highly recommend this watch to anyone looking for a high quality Swiss made timepiece.

I may have to come revise this at some point, but I'll go with 4 stars for now. The Jomashop fulfillment though Amazon was quick and the watch is authentic and works as it should and is new - no funny business. People are concerned about the warranty and legitimacy on these deals - understandably so and I was too. However, this is an inexpensive watch as they go and the dramatic cost savings made it worth the risk for me - everyone has to make up their own mind on that. It's the first time I have done a non AD watch but everything worked out so far - the watch was new in the box with all the packaging and wrapped in the original protective clear plastic on all surfaces.

That's the transaction business, now the watch:

It is not something you can set up without a manual and there's even a good video on the Victorinox site to help. At first the hands were not aligned correctly. It is more or less easy and documented for aligning the chrono, but the time mode is vexing and undocumented: if you want the minute hand to point to the indicators, you must pull the crown when the second hand is just at 12, and then set the minutes, otherwise the minute hand might point to 1/3 or 2/3 intermediate points as the second hand passes 12; the minute hand moves partially every 20 seconds. It took a bit of fiddling to discover this and for a moment I thought the watch was defective - although that seemed unlikely and my experience with quartz chromos in the past had taught me that the hands can get out of whack as a matter of course.

It's a nice looking watch with decent heft but not bulky looking or too sporty. The bracelet links are solid, not hollow. The silver hands on the gray dial are easy enough to read - not as easy as white on black would be - but most watch makers seem to figure in readability as a low design priority - this is better than many. The main reason for this watch though is the unique movement and chrono feature that uses the entire face of the clock as the hr/min/sec counters rather than small unreadable sub-dials. That's the main purpose I bought it for.

It is hard to find watches that at least provide the central minutes counter. A few discontinued TAGs did including the Calibre S models (discontinued in the US at least but a few still on Amazon and eBay), the Swiss Army Dive Master Chrono does (using the same movement as the discontinued TAG Aquaracer, etc) - there's a current Breitling Colt II that uses it as well and a couple of Certinas (that seem really difficult to get in the US). There's also at least one Chase Durer that uses that same ETA 251.262 movement too. Same base movement doesn't necessarily mean same watch quality though. This Victorinox movement is unique - very similar to the TAG Calibre S (same base movement for both from Soprod) with both having the dual purpose perpetual calendar and 1/100 second counter sub-dials along the bottom.

For automatic watches, the choices are even fewer: there's the Breitling Skyracer and the Sinn EZM 10 - these are both expensive watches. My Skyracer is back to Breitling for repairs so I thought why not try out something as functional, less expensive, more accurate, and possibly / hopefully less troublesome.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Classy and beautiful as well as practical for everyday wear. 8 de julio de 2016

I'm writing this review in June, because the original Victorinox watch given to me at Christmas died after six months. It could have been the battery (which probably would not be covered under the warranty), but replacing the battery would have cost $35. I didn't feel I should have to spend $35 on a watch I'd had only six months, and then, what if it wasn't the battery - I'd be out $35 and also have to send it in to Victorinox. Please don't hold this against the brand - the manufacturer ships the watch with the battery disconnected, so the retailer must have somehow run the battery down, which they are not supposed to do. Anyway, my wife had ordered the original from Costco, so it was easy to return, and since Costco was no longer selling that watch we bought the replacement from Amazon. This turned out to be a bonus because it came with the Amazon 2-year warranty for free.

So, that's the background, and now to this purchase. Well, let me start by saying that the instruction manual was missing. I knew this because the original had included one, and clearly this new one had a space in the box where the manual should have been. I nearly took off a star because I was annoyed, but thought better of it because that would look like I was not happy with the product, which is not the case. I really love the watch. Anyway, you can find all the instructions you need at Victorinox's website.

Finally, about the watch! This is just a beautiful watch. I needed something that would look classy for formal occasions, as well as be practical for daily use. This watch fits the bill perfectly. I love the black face, silver metal strap and the precision of the hands, all of which point right at the dial markings. I also like the weight and size. This watch has a good, solid feel and ideal weight, perfect for a man. I am of medium build, and size-wise it is perfect for me (see the pics). One more thing, the previous one that I had to return took a few knocks and bangs on the face, but never got a single scratch.

In conclusion, if you want a classy but practical watch, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Awesome Swiss Chrono 29 de enero de 2017

I own watches from Citizen, Seiko, Nixon, Timex, Stührling, and Skägen. I realized I did not have a Swiss watch in my collection! I had a budget of about $300, and wanted a great quality, high value Swiss timepiece. I knew $300 wasn't going to get me anywhere near the Swiss automatics, so quartz movement it was. After extensive research, I found Victorinox to be a reputable company of well made watches.

I love chronographs and I immediately knew this was the watch to get when I found it. The watch is beautiful with nice detail from the face to the crown. I was especially excited about the sapphire crystal, which is very scratch resistant.

I see some negative reviews about the band - the band visibility looked good and well with the watch. I ended up switching it out thought with a leather button stud band from Form-Function-Form. Overall, this is a great looking tough watch!

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas High quality Durable watch that's lasted almost 5 years and still ticking! 22 de mayo de 2016

I've now had this watch for 4.5 years and wear it almost every day. I believe I paid at least $150 more than what it's going for today, but no hard feelings. Here is what I love about a quality $300 - $500 watch like this. WEAR: The numbers, the paint on the outside have held up beautifully. It still looks new, I still get complements and I have not been delicate with it. No scratches on class, numerals or lettering or the steel outer case.

I've replaced the battery twice, and been through 3 x bands. But the original lasted the longest. High quality product I was nervous about buying online, but in reality, these don't break down, so a glad I saved $250 from the price it was selling for at Nordstrom at the time back in 2011.
