Reseña del editor
Aeva Storm is a tenacious athlete with the grisly scars to prove it. On the night of her most riveting championship victory, a bolt of lightning rips from the sky, sealing her fate to becoming humanity’s newest kind of weapon. A Modi. Modi’s are humans reconstructed with synthetic parts, turning them into invulnerable creatures. The innovation was first used as a cure for a fatal disease within the City of Light. But the genius behind the invention has gone rogue with his experiments and the Monarchy is determined to shut him down. With Aeva's natural athletic abilities, she is the prime recruit for his plan to dismantle the Monarchy, thrusting Aeva into a fight she must finish to the bitter end. If she succeeds, she will unleash the deadliest modi’s ever created, and threaten all that is left of their crumbling civilization. Filled with political intrigue, unbreakable familial bonds, and evocative young love, VIOLET STORM is a gripping read that will challenge the way we think about our own human limitations.

Aeva is a professional athlete, playing in an extremely violent game known as Fila. Beating your opponents to a pulp is a valid a strategy as is scoring points by throwing the glass ball into the goals.
When Aeva is struck by lightning in the midst of one of her fila games, it seems her life is over. However, she wakes weeks later in a shed out in the country, bewildered and disorientated and miles from her beloved town.
From there, her life gets even more bizarre. How is it she can smash through a solid wooden table without exerting effort? Why can she see in the dark and hear better than she could before?
When she is informed that her town has been destroyed, she goes into a state of denial, and rushes there immediately to verify the claims and look for her family, for they mean the world to her.
And though her journey is fraught with danger, though she is not without allies. But why does the first ally she makes, a young man similar to her in age, insist so adamantly that she covers her face every time they meet other people? Is she so ugly from years of facial injuries receiving while playing fila that he thinks no one can bear to look at her? Why then won't he stop staring at her?
From there, things become more complex, as Aeva is drawn into a web of deceit and betrayal beyond anything she would have thought possible.
Violet Storm is a thrilling read, with a host of engaging characters. Violet herself is a complex girl, confident and abrasive yet full of insecurities. She is also driven to find and save her family, whatever the cost. Yet even this is not as simple as it sounds, causing her much anguish and soul searching. The other protagonists that come alongside her are fully fleshed out, as are the villains of the story.
Violet Storm presents us with a detailed description of a world in crisis. We see decaying woods, desperate cannibals, unique towns and cities each with their own detailed histories and cultures.
