First of all, the shipping - while I realize it is not under review here - was amazing. From the time I punched "place my order" to drop off at my doorstep was just under 24 hours. That made the agony of waiting for a new toy for my kids way less unbearable. On to the actual review - this vacuum is awesome. We are a very eco-friendly household and when I noticed my 4 year old's interest in helping to push around my Dyson, I thought I'd invest in her own little mini version. Realizing the mini Dyson is far too expensive, I sought out other choices and quickly stumbled upon this beauty. It's super easy to put together, two little screws. It REALLY PICKS STUFF UP which is extremely awesome to my kids and their play mates. This vacuum seems very durable and will last quite some time with normal wear and tear. My 15 month old love to push it as well. And furthermore, and perhaps the best part, is that this vacuum comes in a gender neutral style. I can't tell you how aggravating it is to constantly find that "household" items are coming in gender specific colors like pink, purple, sparkly Princess. It's obnoxious. This vacuum doesn't make any gender specifications. It's for a child, simple as that. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this toy for your little ones!

I'm not a huge fan of plastic products but I also don't want to deny our little one a fun experience to avoid them. Because of that I was THRILLED to find this wooden vacuum that still looks enough like an adult vacuum that she has the opportunity to "help" when we're cleaning. (She already has a tiny plastic broom that she sweeps with.) We also like that it doesn't have all the crazy pops and vroom noises that eventually drive you crazy. It really does pick up small, light objects using a completely non-electronic mechanism - a piece of thin plastic (the only plastic on the toy) that spins when the vacuum's pushed and pushes smalls object into the little holding section in the vacuum. This little section has a lid that lifts up so that things can be taken out, sprinkled around the room, and "sucked up" again. Our girl received this for her 2nd birthday, and even though she's very advanced in intelligence and imagination, she's still just a touch young for it. She gets the concept and loves pushing it around, but in order to pick things up it has to be pushed directly over the object with a consistent motion. She's still getting used to the idea of pushing it over instead of just setting it down onto the object or pulling it over from the other direction (which does not pick anything up). Because she's only having about a 50% success rate she sometimes gets frustrated, which leads me to think a slightly older child with more developed motor skills, 2 1/2 to 3 years maybe, may enjoy this more. All in all though, if your kiddo is a "helper" this toy is well built and actually picking things up is very rewarding.

Like many toddles, my son ADORES cleaning. He is constantly asking me for my vacuum, broom or spray bottles - so I finally bought him his very own vacuum - which he loves. I worried that he would get bored after a few passes of the carpet - but no. The boy drags that thing throughout the house and tries to clean each rug encountered. I do need to watch him around the dog (who fears play or real vacuums)- but other than that : its brilliant. It makes a wonderful noise - that won't drive you too crazy. And its non-toxic, without any branding (which is important to us). A great gift for either sex and any (short) age.

I loved this toy and so did my son until it broke for no reason. I ordered this for my son as a second birthday present and he played with it pretty frequently until one morning he came into the kitchen while I was cooking breakfast holding the broken pieces saying "uh-oh" it broke at the pivet and there's no way to just glue it together and have it be sturdy again. Since there aren't that many wooden sweepers out there to pick from and they all seem to have bad reviews I'm going to attempt to fabricate a solution and try to make it work. It's a good thing I took shop in high school.

I wanted to love this vacuum, but the quality is kind of poor. It will break very easily if the children are careless with it. Mine were playing with it with normal play and we heard it crack two different times. It hasn't completely broken yet, but my children don't play with it much anymore. It's very difficult to move across carpet. it does pick up small items, but doesn't hold much. It is very cute.
