I've read several great books lately on How to Write fiction from other amazing authors. This book was weak and it didn't share information that I didn't already know. Maybe if it had been the very first book I read on writing picture books, I could have received some insight from it, but sadly it wasn't, so it was a great disappointment reading this book.

I bought 3 books total on how to write a children's book and this one included all the standard info plus much more. I learned a lot from this thourough guide. I especially like the instructions on writing with rhyme and rhythm, something the other books didn't go into detail about.

Great book! I'm an illustrator collaborating with an author on a children's book. Darcy laid out clear instructions on how to build the story for each genre, how to plan and design the book, including offering downloadable tools to help in design. This not only gave the author and me a common language to discuss the layout, it provided the concepts to strengthen our approach to our subject. I highly recommend this as a go to resource for anyone wanting to write a children's book.
