5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Perfect for what I needed 17 de mayo de 2012

I had been considering building an HTPC for some time when my wife talked me into going to a flea market with her. There I found a 4 year old Dell PC with a 1.8 ghz Pentium CPU, 120 gig 7200 RPM HDD, Blu-Ray Drive (which the previous owner added), DVD burner and 4 gigs of DDR2 ram for $75.

It streamed Amazon videos fairly well, but Silverlight (Netflix streaming) didn't go well at all and Blu-Ray was out of the question.
The onboard video was not up to snuff and I knew the CPU as it is was not going to do the job.

So I bought this Motherboard and a $30 AMD HD 5450 video card here at amazon.

After installation I was able to overclock the CPU from a 200 mhz FSB up to 334 and lower the multiplier to 8 for 2.7 ghz all without any CPU voltage settings. Then I installed the 5450 and presto. I get top quality streaming and now the Blu-Ray Rom plays movies at 1080p without missing a beat. This motherboard and the 5450 cost me a total of $87.

It will take any socket 775 processor to 105 watts (Although I did try a Q6600 on this and even overclocked it to 3ghz. and it ran fine)
Fair selection of voltage and ram options (The basics)
Small (Its mATX afterall)
Enough overclock options to get a nice boost
Has a 1x PCIe slot and 2 PCI for expansion
Can be powered on with a PS2 OR USB mouse\keyboard
Will take up to 8 gigs of ram

No Raid or AHCI
No CPU voltage options
Only 2 Ram slots

If you want to revive an old socket 775 based system, are looking to build an HTPC, and especially if the one you have now is from a major builder with zero performance options in the bios this board is one you want.

1.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Not a quality board. 13 de diciembre de 2012

Back in June I bought this board to replace a bad board in an HP pavilion desktop. I noticed immediate disappointments. As many of you may know CPUs must be cooled. The fan used to cool the CPU would not fit on this board at all, why this is I will never know as the socket is the same therefore the CPU cooler should mount properly. I looked this aside and went for a non traditional mounting method instead that worked out fine. Here is where i delve into the real issues: I bought this board and immediately found out the on board PS/2 port for the mouse was bad so I had to shell out another $15 for a USB mouse. A few weeks later the on board audio port went out thus leaving no sound ability other than a port on the front USB panel on the case. The CD driver disc that came with it did not install drivers properly on the first try. I refuse to recommend this product to anyone. The only reason I didn't RMA it was the fact that the board was still "useable" and the computer was for my little cousin to use.

After the failure of my long-running Vista Premium Asus board, I needed a cheap socket 775 board that would support the 120w TDP beast that is the Q6600, and this fit the bill. Going from a full ATX motherboard with all the trimmin's, as it were, to this was a humbling adventure. Immediately, the 10/100 Realtek LAN chip was a horrible step down in terms of performance, but again, cheap it is. What was rather unfortunate was the placement of the SATA ports. My dual-slot video card immediately ate up one of the PCI slots, and made accessing the top SATA port impossible. Sticking a sound blaster card in the available slot made things even more difficult from a SATA perspective. Everything else feels similarly cramped and placed wherever they could. On the plus side, putting the PCIe x1 slot at the top of the stack meant that it was free for other uses, so good choice there ASRock team.

I guess the best thing to say about it is that it works - it's been running without incident for several months, which is all you can reasonably ask from your low budget motherboard.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Works Great With Win7 26 de noviembre de 2012

Works great. I'm using an Intel e8400 E0, 2x2GB DDR2-800 ram, nvidia 450 GTS, Win7 Ultimate SP1. The manual is thorough, the support website is great. Another solid product from ASRock. The product page said it was used when I ordered it, but it appeared to be new, and came with everything. Only the black cover for the cpu pins was missing. All the pins were perfectly fine though. My only complaint is that there are only 2 fan plug-ins, one 4 pin for the cpu and 1 3 pin chassis plug-in.

These older boards seem to be higher quality than the new lga775 boards that are being made- I ordered an MSI one and it was DOA. Just be careful because some of the older boards have compatibility problems with windows 7.
3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Onboard Audio doesn't work 17 de enero de 2013

I gave it three stars because it works great except onboard audio went out. I'm force to use temp external sound card until i either decide to take it out of my computer and RMA# or purchase sound card. Plus receive item opened no static bag around MB and MB cd case ripped open. So i purchased used sold as new which should not of been the case. But other than that it's worked fine. Think next time i'll go to store instead of purchasing online so i know I'm not getting used crap sold as new.
