5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Best Zebra pen EVER! 11 de junio de 2015

I've used the 701 for years and I still love that pen, but this is my new favorite. I have never liked twist pens so that means a lot (The mechanical pencil function does click). This pen is lighter than the 701. For one the 701 is steel and this pen is ALL metal but it's aluminum + some steel parts. It is also a slightly narrower diameter than the 701. It is very easy to switch between writing instruments and you can feel a slight break in between so you know when the pen, pencil, or (whatever) is retracted without having to look at it.
*This is just the pen body*
You will have to purchase the refills separately. I recommend and search for 'Sharbo refills' or 'zebra D1 refills'. They are a US based seller and they ship same day if you order before noon. The refills on Amazon ship from Japan. Make sure to take advantage of the $25 or more free shipping and order several ink refills.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I love the feel of it 6 de julio de 2016

First off, I am not a pen guy, but that may change after receiving this pen. I love the feel of it, even thought it can be a tad slick. The finish on it is very nice. I put in two of the JSB-0.5 gel pen cartridges and a 0.5mm mechanical pencil and have been using it as my daily driver. This is my go to pen now when I am out an about doing consultations. It looks sharp and it has a good weight to it.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas One of the best multipens ever 18 de agosto de 2013
Por Adonis - Publicado en
My work is in Aviation. I, and all others that work in this profession, use a black pen, a red pen, and a pencil of some sort daily. For years I used a Cross Tech3+ and thought I could not be happier; that is until I dropped it from atop a ladder a month ago. Somehow the fall broke the pencil extend/retract mechanism such that it bound up the whole works. Disappointed about how easily the pen broke, I went on the hunt for a better multipen.....

...And found the Zebra Sharbo X series.

I have two now, this one and the TS10, but this is about my workhorse pen; the Zebra Sharbo X LT3.

The pros -

All metal construction. Built to last, this multipen feels as solid as it looks. Though I have not tried it, I'm fairly certain this pen could survive the drop that the Cross Tech 3 did not. Also, the pen/pencil inserts are held securely inside the pen body such that they do not chatter against each other while writing (like the Cross did).

Smooth operator. The pen rotating action is smooth with light consistent friction. The feel of the rotating action is like the zoom and focus action of my $2,500 Canon L lens. When you reach each of the three stops there's a positive "bump" that let's you know that you have fully extended your desired pen body.

The options! The Zebra Sharbo X series takes D1 sized refills. So even beyond the tremendous choices of Zebra gel, ballpoint, pencil, and stylus options, you can try D1 sized inserts like the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Slims or the Monteverde Ballpoint refills.

Binder clip. Binder clips are awesome. Ever stretch out the clip of a nice pen before? You know, clipped the pen in a pocket you knew you should not have, or clipped it to a leather loop in a briefcase, notebook, pocketbook, or clutch, and found that you have irreversibly stretched that clip out forever? Well no fear of that with this pen because of the generous flex of the spring loaded binder clip.

Cons -

The big Con is the ambiguous retract position. The tips do not positively retract, rather you must rotate them to a state of being less extended. In other words, the retract position is just somewhere in between two extend positions. The problem is if you have gel pen inserts, and you don't want to have gel ink on your shirt/blouse pocket, then you have to look at the front of the pen while you rotate the pen body to make sure that all the tips are adequately retracted. Some say that you get used to this after a while, but even after using my Sharbos for almost a month now, I still hate it (-1 star).

Customization -

This very thin (9.1mm) multipen is wholly customizable by the user. Understand that when you buy this pen body that's exactly what you are getting - a pen body only. You have to purchase separately the inserts you want. Slot I must be fitted with a pencil mechanism. I chose a 0.3 mm pencil insert filled with Uni Hi-density lead - B hardness. The 0.3 lead by Uni does not break like you would think a lead this thin would, and the B hardness level is pretty dark such that it stands out well even though the line is so thin. For those that like 0.5mm or 0.7mm mechanical pencils, they make that too; sorry, no 0.9mm, you'll have to find another pen if you like to use tree trunk sized lead. For slot II and III I am currently using black and carmine red 0.5mm Zebra gel ink inserts. The black is very dark and bold, the red bright and vibrant; these gel inserts write smoothly, seldom skip, and do not noticeably wet out like many gel/rollerball pens do. Zebra D1 inserts come in a variety of color, sizes, and inks to fit almost anyone's needs (oh and did I mention that many other D1 inserts work as well; YMMV).

Conclusion -

If your reading this then I assume you are someone who is not looking for a BIC plastic multipen and is instead looking for a high quality, well designed, smooth writing, and good looking multipen. If I'm right, take a real good look at the Sharbo X LT3 as well as the, Tombow Zoom 414, Lamy 2000, Zebra Sharbo X Premium TS10 (which I also bought), and the Metaphys Locus. Each of these pens deserve consideration as your next EDC pen.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Well made! 10 de febrero de 2015

I love this. Action is smooth. Interchangeable tips. Very thin. Only thing that's a bit annoying is having to unscrew the cap to get to the eraser. Pen extension seems to be via a Teflon cam inside with a center detent when you get to the utensil of choice. There is no detent for the "closed" position but you can retract all the tips.

I'm a bit of a nerd. Seriously. I've had many pens purely trying to find one I love.

This one is great!

-It feels solid in the hand is is perfectly balanced - as in right in the center is the center of weight.

-The clip on it is spring loaded internally so it will pull away from the housing a bit and still spring back nicely.

-The eraser is tiny as expected but the cover that screws down over it is very nice and it even has an o-ring so that it doesn't come unscrewed and lost.

-It is thin but not too thin. I can still hold it easily in my hand.

-It has a nice texture to it. Just a little rougher than my macbook aluminum housing so that I can grip it without it sliding around.

-The refills are easily installed. I have a .7mm pencil (too cool as the .5mm is a bit too thin and that is the standard). I also have the .5 black and red. They are gel and write as smooth as silk. I've read that other brands fit but I'm ok with these. Yes the refills cost about $2.50. I'm ok with that.

-Overall this pen in great! The movement is just wonderful and it clicks solidly into each position giving me confidence in the build quality.

I'll definitely be buying another at some point.
