5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Perfect camping/hiking gear 29 de mayo de 2013

I use this with my liberty mountain stove/burner set. I can pack the stove and burner in with my kettle for the perfect all in one set. The way the kettle is designed shorter and wider helps it boil water faster than with other "backpacking" kettles. It easily holds just over 2cups of water to make a hot drink and enough hot water for a dehydrated meal in one shot. I messed with "do it yourself" gear for a bit, but for under 30 bucks, just get this and never look back.

I read complaints about the handle melting if you use it over a fire. The handle can be easily removed so you can place the kettle on some hot coals......I just use my multi tool to move it off when ready, then reattach to pour. You can get it cheaper without the bowl, cup, foon combo, but the extra $10 or so to have an easily nesting kit is well worth it. The kettle works so well, sometimes I use it at home! Just get it and stop reading! You won't regret it!

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas If boiling water is your thing, this is perfect 26 de abril de 2013

I decided to buy this after I discovered pouring boiling water from a pot into a freezer bag isn't exactly the easiest thing to do with only two hands. This thing is the bomb! My Zelph Colbalt alcohol stove fits perfectly inside the bowls with a small lighter. The whole cook set packs up small. I took this out on a group outing and we used it along with a regular pot to boil some water. We had identical stoves with 2 cups of water. The kettle was boiling a good minute before the taller pot. If you eat instant oatmeal out of the pouch, you can't find a better way to get hot water where you need it. Even though this is marketed as a solo cookset, you will find plenty of uses for it for bigger groups. For the price, you can't beat it. If GSI could make any improvements, a little whistler add-on would be cool and maybe make the handles a little less floppy. I don't see myself going with anything else for solo trips any time soon.

Have yet to try this out but it was exactly what I was looking to get for backpacking. I've borrowed a friend's GSI micro dualist a couple times and loved the product. This ketalist set packs very nice in the diameter of my frypan inside my mess kit. The little bit of extra storage inside the kettle and inside the bowl is plenty enough to fit a package of soap, dish towelette, scrubbie, salt/pepper shaker, etc... No reason to think you couldn't make some killer rice and beans in this thing, boil water for an MRE, or cook and prepare your own (1 person) meal.

Excellent set- the spork is silly but I really like the rest. They should either put in a nice spoon or leave it out. I fit a foil windscreen inside next to the bowls and a lighter and rag inside. Really a nice set. For family hike/camp I think I would add a small fry pan and plate. Not great for open flame cooking because of handle (unless you take the time to hang it by the bail and build your fire properly) but it can be removed if needed. I much prefer having an insulated handle to not.

I have made tea and ramen in my backyard just to check it out and it is very fast to boil.

Great kit. Took this on a week long backpacking trip. Set great on my primus stove and was able to boil water just as quickly add the others with jet boils. I liked it even better when I discovered that the bowl is actually two bowls that press together (one is also a measuring cup)
A little large for the pack, but very light weight for the size.
Just be sure to raise the handle, I nearly melted the grip of of it twice.
